Abstract
In this paper, the recent experience of enterprise restructuring and Award restructuring in Australia is reviewed against the background of 'new production concepts'that are informing structural adjustment strategies in the country's principal competitors. The notions of neo-and post-Fordism are introduced to help make sense of the contradictory developments occurring in Australian industry, both to aid analysis and to assist in formulating constructive strategies of intervention. Prospects for restructuring are critically assessed.
