Abstract
Australian academia, universities and colleges of advanced education, has for decades been something of a backwater in industrial relations terms, but this situation is changing. The once calm campuses are experiencing a rapidly changing industrial scene. While there is no shortage of academics qualified and willing to offer informed comment on industrial trends and issues in the Australian community, few have chosen to study the campus industrial scene, the environment in which they work and study. This is surprising, since the higher education sector is a significant employer in its own right.
