Abstract
A series of questionnaires completed by managers attending a Sydney Training Consultancy's 'Effective Management Programme' illustrates how Australian managers see themselves.
The preferred leadership style of these managers is one which indicates that managers here in Australia focus both on task and on relationship behaviour. Australian managers are more reserved in communicating than their American counterparts. In fact, in a conflict situation, they are more likely to avoid confrontation.
Australian managers show higher scores in belonging needs, whilst American scores are higher in self actualising needs.
