These laws are commonly known as public order offences. There are many such laws dealing with offensive behaviours and conduct. This article is only concerned with offensive language laws.

Section 3 of the Justice Legislation Amendment (Infringement Offences) Act 2011 (No 27 of 2011) (Vic) repealed ss 2(2), 2(4) and 11 of the Infringements and Other Acts Amendment Act 2008, which would have otherwise repealed parts of s 60AA of the Summary Offences Act 1966 on 1 July 2011.
