This edition of the EJA will elicit many thoughts about the notion of evaluation. The articles seek to challenge our thinking and thus raise a number of questions about the nature of our discipline. Each article presents a specific context or particular aspect of evaluation that needs enhancement—clearly, we have much to do! The issues raised encourage us to consider the fundamental meaning of evaluation, its approaches and applications.
