Abstract
Today Soviet sports sociologists focus on the humanisation of sport as part of the general humanisation of social relations. The problem includes such aspects as the shaping of humanistic thinking in contrast to the administrative-technocratic thinking predominant today, ways of achieving harmony between physical and spiritual development, enrichment of sports with moral and cultural values, new principles of training specialists capable of coping with the above tasks. Among the practical steps which have been taken to introduce these humanistic ideas into practice is the formation of an Humanistic Sports Movement in the USSR.
