Abstract
Here, the resolution on 'Sport and Peace' as passed by the German Sport Federation (DSB) and the paper introducing this motion are reproduced. Every normal human being, especially after the bitter experience of the last war, wants peace. The political debate concerning the best way to guarantee peace should be carried on in political parties and parliaments, but not in sport clubs and associations. In sporting organisations, only interests of sport policy should be attended to. Sport needs peace. Sport makes its own contribution to peace by fairness and tolerance and promotion of the values of sport worldwide.
