Abstract
Researchers looking for the ties between sport and culture as a rule found them within the range of problems related to play. However, this perspective of explaining sport is today not the only existing possibility. There is a great vaniety of theoretical attitudes in this respect and these could be reduced to the following types of interpretations: existential-axiological, psycho-analytical, anthro pological and cultural, semiotic, structural-functional and dialectical ones. Referring to some of these types of interpretation the author analyzes sport in categories of the infrastructure, direct culture and symbolical culture.
