Abstract
Data taken from a survey of players on the Ladies Professional Golf Association Tour indicate that the reward system is varied. Most players cannot meet their playing and traveling expenses from tournament winnings alone. Supplementary sources of income are available, however, from sponsorships, endorsements and fees for teaching golf. Although the financial rewards from this work are limited for most, the players are generally satisfied with their careers. This is because other features of the reward system are also important. These additional features involve several forms of enjoyment and personal satisfaction that are derived from partici pation.
