In Tambon Korat and Koongyang in North-eastern Thailand, 88% (n=60) of the mothers and significant other careproviders interviewed believe in poh, a mild, self-limiting diarrhea in infants which is considered a normal prerequisite in child development. The local definition of poh as to its nature, symptomatology and home management and implications for diarrhea control activities are presented in this paper.
