Abstract

The year 2025 marked a phase of steady consolidation and growing influence for Apollo Medicine, reflecting its continued commitment to publishing clinically relevant, methodologically sound and impactful medical research. An analysis of submissions, publications, citations and readership metrics highlights the journal’s expanding footprint within the biomedical community and demonstrates opportunities for strategic growth in the coming years.
From 1 January 2025, the journal transitioned to a bimonthly publication schedule, enabling more timely dissemination of scientific content. Original articles (53.2%) and review articles (21.9%) formed the core of published content, reinforcing the journal’s emphasis on advancing scientific knowledge and clinical practice. The publication of editorials, case reports, case series, short reports and correspondence further enriched the journal’s academic discourse, supporting dialogue, reflection and rapid dissemination of ideas. With an overall acceptance rate of 43%, the journal maintained a selective yet inclusive editorial policy, ensuring quality while encouraging diverse scholarly contributions.
The journal is indexed in the Directory of Open Access Journals and recently in Embase (Elsevier). Equally encouraging was the journal’s digital engagement and readership growth in 2025 [Figure 1], with a total views and downloads reaching to 326,576. Monthly downloads increased progressively through the year, rising from 8,110 in January to over 23,000 in October, with consistently high levels sustained through the final quarter. Similarly, page views showed a marked upward trajectory, peaking at 32,485 in December, indicating growing global visibility and reader interest. The pronounced surge in the latter half of the year suggests enhanced discoverability, effective dissemination and strong resonance of published content with the medical community.

These metrics collectively affirm Apollo Medicine’s role as a credible platform for clinicians, researchers and academicians, particularly in translating research into practice. Strengthening international collaborations, encouraging high-quality systematic reviews and meta-analyses and promoting interdisciplinary and translational research will be key to amplifying the journal’s impact. Enhanced engagement with emerging areas such as digital health, artificial intelligence in medicine, precision therapeutics and health systems research may further broaden the journal’s scope and influence.
Apollo Medicine continues to benefit from a dedicated peer-review community and strong author participation, with notable performance across alternative metrics reflecting digital visibility and societal engagement. We are delighted to recognize the top 16 reviewers of Apollo Medicine for 2025 (according to number of reviews done): Sudhir Shekhawat, Karthikeyan P Iyengar, Sarat Sahoo, Dhavendra Kumar, Arun Aggarwal, Alok Agrawal, Anusha Doraiswamy, Anoop Singh Arora, Ashish Goyal, Viny Kantroo, Saptarshi Bhattacharya, Pankaj Baweja, Ashish Malik, Anil Safaya, Anshuman Sarangi and Rajesh Botchu.
The journal has planned four thematic special issues for 2026, focusing on musculoskeletal radiology, integrative medicine, paediatrics and women’s health. These special issues are expected to attract high-quality submissions, multidisciplinary collaboration and wider readership.
Overall, 2025 was a year of significant progress for Apollo Medicine, marked by solid submission volumes, selective publication practices, growing citation impact and impressive digital engagement. With continued editorial rigour and strategic vision, the journal is well-positioned to advance its mission of disseminating high-quality medical research encompassing practice, policy and future innovation.
