Abstract
Nepal is India’s next door neighbour. It is a landlocked, least developed country of South Asia. Being a neighbour as well as a well-off member of the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC), it is India’s responsibility to maintain friendly political relations with Nepal and more importantly, to help accelerate the latter’s economic development programme through various linkages, such as trade, investment and economic assistance. The present article evaluates these different linkages, especially from the viewpoint of economic development in Nepal
