Abstract

At the request of Sage and the Journal Editor, the following article is retracted:
Sarkar, S., Gopal, P. K., Chakraborty, B., Paul, M., Chowdhury, C., & Paul, S. (2019). 14-Deoxy-11,12-Didehydroandrographolide: A novel compound isolated from Andrographis paniculata Nees. induces robust apoptosis in leukemic cells. Pharmacognosy Magazine 15(62):135–143.
A reader contacted Pharmacognosy Magazine’s editorial office with concerns regarding this article’s content and ethical approval. The concerns were as follows:
In Figure 6, the graphs showing the Control and 30 µM cell cycle analysis have the same numerical data and highly similar appearance as Figure 4 in the author’s previous publication. 2
A previous article 1 , authored by this same author group, was retracted due to lack of valid ethical approval for the use of human cells in the research.
The authors did not provide the ethical approval letter for using human leukemic cell lines and the raw data underlying Figure 6, when requested.
Due to uncertainty around the integrity of the images that call into question the validity of the findings, and our inability to validate that the authors complied with ethical requirements in using human cells, the Journal Editor retracts this article.
The authors did not respond when notified of this retraction decision.
