Abstract
With high rates of economic growth and increasing levels of salaries in the corporate sector, demand for business education is extremely high and students from technical background are trying to enter the top business schools through a tough admission test. Two distortions have been created in the process. First, career choice is dictated by the lure of high salaries after getting a MBA degree irrespective of the background. Second, the attractiveness of education, particularly the research programmes in the universities have become something of low priority because of potential salary differences compared to the compensation package a fresh MBA from top business schools can command. These aspects have been explained in the present paper.
