Abstract
The artificial intelligence (AI) and metaverse buzzwords are tantalizing the industry. Insights into the intention to use metaverse and the application of AI tools could identify potential opportunities in emerging economies. Examining data collected from 489 digital natives working in EdTech companies, structural equation modelling through the lens of the technology acceptance model and social exchange theory reveals that AI at work and the intention to use metaverse by digital natives can strengthen the relationship between employee engagement, innovative work behaviour and adaptive performance. In addition to moderation variables, the study also found employee engagement as a mediator between perceived organizational justice, innovative work behaviour and adaptive performance. This study is among the first to empirically investigate the effects of metaverse and AI on enhancing organizational justice and employee engagement within the rapidly evolving EdTech sector, offering valuable insights into the integration of technology in modern workplace practices.
