Abstract
In the present era of deregulation, privatisation and increasing global market competition, the importance of technology can not be overemphasised. Considering the role of technol ogy, developing countries are paying increasing attention to technological capability build ing, and Bangladesh is no exception. Technological capability building requires govemment interventions at various levels appropriate policy instruments to promote innovation cli mate in both public and private sectors. In addition, the development of institutions related to national science and technology capability building requires special attention. This article investigates the policy regimes, the status of S&T-related institutions vis-à-vis the industrial technology base of Bangladesh, and suggests some measures for strengthen ing technological capability for industrial competitiveness in Bangladesh.
