Abstract
The Slovak Republic was established as an independent country in 1993 as one of the successors of the Czech and Slovak Federal Republic. The fundamental provisions on medical law are set out within the Constitution of the Slovak Republic, others are to be found within a series of statutes adopted during the first days of independence as well as during the last days of the Czechoslovak Federation. The article discusses these provisions and highlights some of the issues arising from them.
