Abstract

Sequences of unexpected deaths associated with the deliberation actions of health care workers are rare, but not unknown. The carers involved are most commonly nurses, but this is by no means inevitable. The cases, when they come to light, inevitably attract a great deal of publicity and their investigation and the subsequent prosecution are usually fraught with difficulties.
