Abstract
A little over 20 years after the first ‘test-tube’ baby, evidence is now beginning to emerge that casts doubt on the efficacy and safety of the processes involved. This article will argue that, given the human costs involved, the time has now come to re-evaluate whether such services are indeed the most appropriate and ethical means of addressing the problems of infertility.
