Abstract
Several UV sensitive polyarylates based on chalcones with allylic groups side chains for potential use as photosensitive polymers were obtained by interfacial polycondensation. The structure of the UV-sensitive monomers and polymers obtained has been confirmed using IR, 1H NMR and UV spectroscopies. Their physical, chemical and mechanical properties have also been determined.
The investigations show that some of the new polymers bearing allylic groups as photosensitive side chains conjugated with benzylideno-acetophenone groups exhibit different behaviour under UV light exposure from the polyarylates based only on bisbenzylideneketone bisphenols, presented in our previous work.
