Abstract
The development and use of a novel design of apparatus for the evaluation of pressure-density-temperature relationships for molten polymers are presented in this paper. The experimental method allows the determination of the pressure-density-temperature characteristics at high pressure (up to 1000 Bar) and temperature (up to 250°C) as appropriate. The data generated are compared with direct measurements made on an injection moulding machine. Three-dimensional relationship plots between pressure, density and temperature of the molten polyethylene can be constructed.
