Abstract
Improvement of the impact strength for blends of polypropylene and poly(butylene terephthalate), with a polypropylene content of not less than 70 wt.% was investigated by the addition of reactive compatibilisers. Izod impact strength of the blends considerably increased with the addition of both maleic anhydride-modified polypropylene (MAH-PP) and a bisphenol A type epoxy resin with epoxy equivalent of 488 g/eq. From the SEM micrographs, it appeared that the interfacial adhesion increased on addition of the two compatibilisers.
