Abstract
In an attempt to modify isotactic polypropylene (IPP), the graft copolymerization of 2-vinyl pyridine (2-VP) and styrene has been studied by preirradiation in air in aqueous media. The percentage grafting (Pg) has been studied as a function of different reaction parameters and optimum conditions for grafting have been determined. The rate of grafting (Rg) of 2-VP and styrene has been evaluated as a function of (i) total dose, (ii) initial monomer concentration, and (iii) temperature. The graft copolymers have been characterized by thermal analysis. The dyeing behaviour of the graft copolymer has also been studied.
