The oil and gas industry is currently expanding its use of fibre reinforced plastics (FRP). This paper concerns the corrosion resistance requirements of FRP for use in liners for steel pipes in downhole and flowline pipework, with special reference to locations seeing high service temperatures. It reviews the relevant literature, and highlights areas requiring further study. The number of aggressive treatment chemicals used in oil and gas pipelines is very large, and their effects on FRP, especially when acting in combination or sequentially, are not yet well understood.
