This article examines the consequences of globalization in the lives of women. The
author explains the ways in which women, particularly poor women, are victims of
globalization and shows how this process has its roots in more than 500 years of
Western colonization. The article demonstrates how women’s groups have
become important sites of resistance to globalization and how they have also
developed different worldviews and ideas of the sacred.
