Abstract
Identifies the optimum role of public library business information services (PLBIS) with UK's Business Link and the steps which can be taken to achieve greater cooperation between them. Examines briefly some conclusions con cerning public library partnerships with business referral and advisory ser vices by identifying the role played in the past by public libraries in partnerships with these services; discusses the advantages and disadvan tages of the public library joining the Business Link partnership; draws attention to assets which the PLBIS can offer Business Link; identifies the ser vice development areas which need attention from the public library service wishing to derive the maximum benefit from its Business Link involve ment ; and gathers the evidence needed to identify the possible nature of the future optimum public library involvement with Business Link and notes the support that it will need from library related organizations in order to achieve this. Concludes with useful suggestions and recommendations for success ful co-operation between public library business information services and the Business Link movement.
