Notes the transformation of the busi ness information sectors of Central and Eastern Europe brought about by the post-Gorbachev political and economic changes. The most signifi cant changes have occurred in the nature and variety of information now being made available to busi ness people. The latter developments owe everything to Western ideas of management information. Western business information sectors have also been greatly changed by the eco nomic revolutions occurring in Central and Eastern Europe. Examines the main trends within these information sectors and the important role played by the estab lishment, within these countries, of an information infrastructure increas ingly responsive to internal and for eign demands for general information. Reports that the main online hosts, such as DIALOG and Data-Star, have increased their cov erage of material from Central and Eastern Europe and these countries are tending to use this type of infor mation on an increasing scale.
