Abstract
On 1 May 1983, the BLEND experimental programme on 'electronic journals' started the on-line Reference, Abstract and Annotations Journal. This contains a database of bibliographic references in the subject area of Computer Human Factors up to 1981 and more recent references and authors' abstracts from selected journals. It is hoped that evalua tive (or critical) annotations will be appended to these by members of LINC using the BLEND system.
This article describes the design and some details of the Reference, Abstract and Annotations Journal, together with the background considerations that led to the particular structure and format chosen.
