This talk was delivered at the Library Association Headquarters on 5 June 1979 as part of a forum on multi-site academic libraries. It offers a solution to the management problems which can arise in such libraries as a result of stress situations stemmingfrom the instabilities of change, such as have occurred in recent years in the development of polytechnic libraries.
