Abstract
The introduction into library schools of courses of instruction in quantitative and research methods is discussed. A one-year course in quantitative methods for postgraduate students is outlined, and examples are given of student projects and papers. The problem of finding suitable staff to teach such courses is discussed and also the problem of fitting the course into existing timetables.
