Abstract
Underlines the difficulties in ensuring an efficient system of information transfer to the small industry. Describes the significant role of small industry in the national economy. Cites the findings of earlier and recent surveys to indicate the continuing, unsatisfactory state of information service for this sector. Critically evaluates the Government's current plans for the setting up of a Small Firms Information Centre Service. Suggests improvements in the scheme and pleads for developing an efficient information network. Urges OSTI to initiate research on problems concerning the small industry and specifies certain areas of research.
