Attempts to provide a practical guide, in summary form, covering all aspects of a library removal, with particular reference to a British academic library. The points considered are based on actual experience in moving the library of the University of Salford and include timing of the move, consideration of the methods to be adopted, selection of a contractor, preparations for the move, relations with contractors, preliminary work prior to the move and organization of the move itself.
