Abstract
Describes the background to and objects of the experiment, and shows how the work was divided between London and Leicester. Details of all requests coming to London were trans lated to punched cards, so making possible the compilation of tables relating to supply position, time factor in loans, subject, language and date analyses, and duplication of requests. The results show a greater use of NCL stock, the advantage to the NCL of immediate access to additional records, and the speeding up of the service to the libraries taking part in the experiment.
