We derive the thermochemical parameters required for the calculation of chemical composition in the plasma region of high-pressure discharge lamps. The process is illustrated by studies on tin(II) chloride, yielding the temperature variation of the Gibbs free energy of formation of SnCl2(g) from Sn(g) and Cl2(g). The influence of thermochemical data on the calculated chemical composition is discussed.
