Abstract
A method of predicting the peak intensity and the shape of the intensity distribution curve, from a pencil beam or a fan beam projector, is based on the flux content and the divergence of the beams from small elements of the optical system. Each elementary beam is treated as having a Gaussian distribution of intensity. Practical examples of the method are given.
