In response to our respondents, we note that we probably share more in agreement than separates us in disagreement. We note several such points and then note that we continue to disagree with Costall and Leudar's (1998) distinction between the `conceptual' and the `empirical'. We also disagree with Noble's (1988) claim that Gibson understood perception as an achievement.
