Abstract
High or changing vibration amplitude patterns in turbomachines are signs of impending failure or a machines deterioration. If properly diagnosed, this information can help improve performance, reliability; reduce maintenance cost; and avoid serious outages.
Vibrations could be caused by structural or aerodynamic excitations, in addition to combustion pulsations. Methods of decreasing vibrations are mentioned, where selection of proper materials plays an important role.
These areas are reviewed briefly in this work.
