Abstract
Energy-saving is one of the important energy policies of governments around the world. The energy service company (ESCO) came into being in response to the energy-saving policy. For ESCOs to thrive, from the perspective of risk management, it is crucial to diversify the risks of ESCOs through insurance. Through interviews with insurance companies and ESCOs, it was found that there is a feasibility of introducing energy insurance (EI) in Taiwan. EI can be categorized as energy-saving insurance or energy efficiency insurance (EEI), and at this stage, EEI is the mainstay of EI development in Taiwan.
