Abstract
The author of Your Right To Know believes the Freedom of Information Act - in operation for almost a year - is working, but not as well as it could or should have done. This is partly due to Government deficiencies, she writes: "It will come as no surprise that the Government did not launch a campaign in the run-up to January 1 to tell the public about their new "right to know". Even today, neither the Department for Constitutional Affairs (charged with implementing the law across Government) nor the Information Commissioner have fulfilled promises of launching a public awareness drive. Don't hold your breath for politicians to tell the public about their new rights."
