Abstract
Anthony Bevins, the renowned political correspondent, died in March aged 58 following a brief and sudden illness. Sunanda Datta-Ray, former editor of the Calcutta based Indian daily newspaper The Statesman and Asia Correspondent for The Observer was an old friend and colleague. Here is his appreciation:
