Abstract
Environmental problems in Pakistan; their origins and development and the threats that they pose to sustainable development examines how environmental problems can be traced back to policies instituted under colonial rule. The paper considers the social and economic changes in recent decades in agriculture, forestry and fisheries, industry and human settlements. It looks at the environmental problems that these changes have caused and considers deficiencies in government policies to address them.
