Abstract
Purpose
The study investigated the awareness, benefits, satisfaction, and challenges associated with the use of cloud computing technology among research scholars (n = 37) and library staff (n = 12) at Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar University, Lucknow, India.
Methodology
The study used a descriptive survey method, including a total of 49 library professionals from the university. A total enumeration sampling method was employed, and data were collected using a structured questionnaire. The data were analysed using Microsoft Excel and SPSS (version 20), with statistical tests including descriptive analysis, the Chi-square test, and independent sample t-tests.
Results and Conclusions
The finding indicates that overall, a high level of 97.9% respondents reported being aware of cloud computing, with a research scholars 97.2% reported, while all library staff reported 100% were aware. Further recognised research scholars’ major benefits, such as user satisfaction (M = 2.00), data loss prevention (M = 2.00), and reliability and security (M = 2.32). However, the library staff put an extreme value on user satisfaction (M = 3.08), limitless storage capacity (M = 3.16), and reliability and security (M = 3.16). and challenges faced by both are technological and infrastructural, with a priority on security and financial concerns; both also highlighted deficiencies in financing, training, and expertise.
