Holroyd Precision has produced the largest machine to date for the roughing and finishing of outsize rotors for the gas processing industry. Weighing over 8 tonne, these stainless steel rotors required a special machine tool able to cater for diameters up to 850 mm. The paper reviews the design and manufacture of the machine, including tooling, and describes some novel machine features.
