Abstract
A series of new poly(imino ether)s (PIEs) have been synthesized via palladium-catalyzed polycondensation of 4,4′-dibromodiphenyl ether with various aromatic diamines. All PIEs were fully characterized by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, elemental analyses, differential scanning calorimetry, thermogravimetric analysis, gel permeation chromatography, and x-ray diffraction. These polymers show high thermal stability and high decomposition temperatures. A model compound was synthesized and characterized by standard spectroscopic methods in order to confirm the proposed structure and to assist in the structure proof of the polymer.
