Abstract
Crystallization characteristics of a poly(ether ketone) derived from diphenyl ether and mixed diacid chlorides containing 2, 6-naphthalenedicarboxylic acid chloride (NDC) and isophthaloyl chloride (IPC) (75/25) was measured by DSC. This polymer showed a high glass transition temperature of 190 "C and a moderate melting temperature of 358 'C. The isothermal crystallization showed that a minimum crystallization half time and a maximum heat of crystallization appeared around 260 'C. The values of Avrami index (n) were 2.7-3.0 at the crystallization temperatures between 230 and 280 'C. This semicrystalline polymer offers the potential to be melt processable while exhibiting a relatively high glass transition temperature.
