Abstract
New crosslinked bead shape (0.1- 1.0mm in diameter) copolymers of poly(N-p-carboxyphenylmaleimide-co-divinylbenzene) have been prepared by the suspension copolymerization technique. The characterization of the network edifice was performed by IR spectroscopy, thermal analysis, ion exchanger capacities and the swelling values at equillibrium. Practical and theoretical average molecular weight between crosslinks and crosslinking density were measured and calculated. The mechanism for the synthesis of the new network based on the relationship which was established between the synthesis parameters and the resulting structures is also discussed.
