Abstract
This article describes the collaborative activities in the USA of Elf Aquitaine, the large French industrial group which is active in oil and gas, chemicals and pharmaceuticals, and which has 90 000 employees and a sales revenue of about $30 billion. The author discusses why Elf Aquitaine cooperates with US universities, how cooperation works and the benefits that are accrued.
