Abstract
It is a long time since the UK was known as the ‘workshop of the world’ and one of the major constraints we now face is that of skill shortages. Training and retraining have never been more important for the UK than they are today. The Amalgamated Engineering Union welcomes all positive training initiatives and is set to seize the opportunities that the 1990s will present.
