Abstract
It is accepted that the activities of mutual sharing, development, and result-oriented realization of information and technology between universities and industrial companies, which are described as “University-Industry Collaboration”, directly contribute to the economy and wealth of a nation. It is considered one of the most fundamental and critical elements of regional and national development. The industrial incentive and support, which have been restructured since the second half of the 1990s, are important indicators. In addition, the increasing importance of intellectual property rights, the rising significance of industrial research and development, and the establishment of university partnerships as a prerequisite for establishing legalized technoparks and technology development zones are recent developments in this context. Doğuş University, which has relocated to the center of the Dudullu Organized Industrial Zone, one of the most prominent OIZs in Istanbul, fosters intense interactions through an exemplary “university-industry collaboration” model. In line with the demands of the industry from the academy, an innovation-based collaboration model that focuses on attainable goals and realism, with an understanding of equal partnership, has been demonstrated.
