Abstract
The computerization of a machining line entails changes in work organization. The main innovations are the use of work teams, collective responsibility and the multiskilling of operatives. Yet these changes are not enough to ensure a satisfactory working of the line because of the way information technologies increase the complexity of the manufacturing process. To overcome the crisis of unskilled work and to increase the optimum use of the integrated machining line, we propose a new organization of work between all departments of production and not just within machining.
